I have been looking at the work of Susan kae Grant and Kara Walker. We seem to be interested in many similar things: story telling, women, social politics, personal history and universal meanings. Always a challenge to study another artist's work and figure out what speaks to me. Struggling to see how my work intersects theirs without imitating them. The beauty of Grant's work is as seductive as is the politics of Walker's work. Grant and Walker offer a lot to think about, in both their choice of subject and technique.
